Research in our Laboratory

The Laboratory of Plant Taxonomy and Ecology conducts research in twoprincipal areas. One is taxonomical and ecological research on non-vascularplants, including bryophytes, freshwater algae, lichens, fungi and cyanobacteria. The other is ecological research on Japanese vegetation, including forests, grasslands, and ruderal habitats. The Department also maintains aresearch Herbarium (HIRO) which has an extensive Bryophyte collection.
